Deeper into The Peanuts Collection

And now that TV has announced The Peanuts Collection to the world, I’ll head back into telling the AAUGH Blog gang what they’ll find in the book. Now, where was I?

Ah, yes, the next spread up is “Taking to the Stage”, looking at theatrical Peanuts. Tipped into this spread is a reduced version of the souvenir book for You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown, recently discussed on this blog.

Following that, it’s “Peanuts in Space”, and of all my text pieces in this, this is the one I’m proudest of. It’s got a nice bounce to it. And it has its own removable items – Snoopy space stickers! Peppermint Patty earns a spread all to herself,, with illustrations of her in drawn, animated, ornament, statue, and toy form. My favorite visual on these pages is an unfinished Peanuts strip – totally lettered, one panel drawn in pencil, another drawn in ink. Closing out today’s browse is a spread on Peanuts and sports, ranging from the many appearances of sports in the strip to the appearance of Peanuts characters in real-life sports, from the Woodstock Open to the sponsored race cars.  And on these pages, along with the Schulz-drawn covers for a couple Sebastapol Little League programs, is another removable gifty – half a dozen Peanuts character baseball cards, reproductions of ones that you used to be able to get in packages of Dolly Madison snack cakes.

We’ll have to wait until the next preview post for Peanuts material courtesy of the US government….

Under the influence of The Wolf

I’ve talked about this a bit earlier on this blog, but now I’ve gone and made a whole video about the odd tranformation that the World War II cartoon panel “The Wolf”, aimed at American GIs, slowly evolved into a daily comic strip about a quirky bunch of neighborhood kids …

Destined to blow up

Puffer Jacket Snoopy is a thing… enough of a thing that I’ll be discussing an item that only barely qualifies for this blog (it comes with a book… a tiny book of stickers.) Amazon is now listing for October release a Desktop Inflatable Puffer Jacket Snoopy. It’s one of the …
