A Boy Named Charlie

Today’s addition to the AAUGH.com reference library (well, one of them, I don’t mention everything I get) is the souvenir booklet for the Japanese release of A Boy Named Charlie Brown. About 8 1/3″x 11 2/3″, this 20 page booklet has character descriptions, some text presumably on the plot and the making of the film, and lots of pictures., both Schulz-drawn images and animation shots. Only the outside cover and two interior spreads are in color; the rest, is not in black-and-white as you might suspect, but rather in blue and white. There are 1969 copyright dates throughout, but those are the copyright dates for the images; there’s a small clue suggesting that the booklet (and presumably the film as well) is a 1972 release.
The thing that makes me happiest about this item is that it says Snoopy & Charlie in big letters on both the front ad back covers. I am easily amused by the not-quite-rightness of that.
Meanwhile, this is our first year owning a house, and we’re not exactly organized about decorating it for the holidays. Still need to plan out what we want to do, then buy the stuff with which to do it. If you need an inflatable flying ace or a shiny Charlie Brown for your yard, you can find such things easily online.
