Keeping Snoopy off your bumper

The bad economy – specifically, the California state budget crisis – is apparently slowing down efforts by the state’s museum organization to make an official Snoopy license plate available. My fellow Californians are of course suffering through myriad effects of the budget crisis, but you from out of state can help. Come, visit our lovely state, and spend some money while you’re here!

You could, of course, come down to Anaheim for the convention promoted at the right, wish me a Happy Birthday, take in some of the other gathered celebrities there (Shaft himself, Richard Roundtree! The least-remembered Ghostbuster, Ernie Hudson! The guy who played Xander on Buffy, and his twin brother! Stephen Tobolowski, who you’ll look at and recognize as that guy from, like, everything! Adam West! Steve Lieber, the talented artist whose graphic novel Whiteout got turned into an unsuccessful major motion picture! and many more!) and visit nearby Disneyland and, for the Peanuts fans, Knott’s Berry Farm.

Or you could visit San Francisco, take in the wicked streets and the trolley, then head over the Golden Gate Bridge on a day trip up to Santa Rosa a mere hour away, where you can see the Schulz Museum and the various other Peanutsy places around it.

Or go visit our mighty Redwoods! See the stars on Hollywood Boulevard (if there’s anything reasonably good playing at the main screen of Gramann’s Chinese Theater, see that movie, because it’s actually a very nice theater.) Head down to San Diego, and take an excursion out to Coronado Island! Gamble at our Indian casinos, tour our wine country, surf our beaches.

But the main point is that you should come to California and spend money, because I want my Snoopy plate!
