Coming up in a couple weeks is Wondercon, the San Diego Comic-Con’s younger, lighter sister in lovely Anaheim, California. And on Friday, March 27, at 2:30 PM Pacific time, in room 213AB of the Anaheim Convention Center, there is going to be a panel labeled “Charles Schulz and Peanuts”. Who will be on the panel? Just two people: your humble AAUGH Blogger, and Mark Evanier. Peanuts fans will know Mark as the author of the recent volume for Peanuts 75th anniversary, The Essential Peanuts (still available, and at the moment, nicely discounted!) Comics fans will know him for the many comic books he has written, including his original series Hollywood Superstars and Crossfire and his long-running collaboration with Sergio Aragones on Groo the Wanderer. TV animation buffs will know him from his writing on the beloved Garfield series. Online addicts may know his always-informative News From ME blog. People who go to comic cons may recognize him as the person who has hosted more San Diego Comic-Con panels than probably anyone else. (He’s one of the few people who can still claim to have gone to every one of the San Diego conventions.)
What will we be talking about? Just what the title says, Charles Schulz and Peanuts. What specifically? I don’t know! This will be a free-wheeling conversation between two Peanuts-knowledgable folks, with plenty of room for questions from the audience! Be there, bring a question, it’ll be good to see you!
