The Peanuts special that never was now shall be…

Animated Peanuts

Charles Schulz shuffled off this mortal coil decades back. Bill Melendez has been gone for over a decade. Together, the two of them created many fine animated specials that we all enjoyed… and, apparently, one that never made it into production.

Which is to say that, coming out in April (yet not yet pre-orderable through Amazon) is a graphic novel adapting a tale that Schulz and Melendez had apparently gotten to the storyboard stage. Scotland Bound, Charlie Brown tells the tale of Charlie Brown and several of his key chums heading off to Scotland, (unsurprisingly, given the title, but with any other title, you’d go “Really? Scotland?? I did nae see that coming!”) The solicitation promises us golf, music, and the mystery of Loch Ness. The adaptation is by Peanuts comics regulars Jason Cooper and Robert Pope.

112 pages for a U.S. list price of $9.99. I’m sure I’ll have more details for you soon! (And thanks to AAUGH Blog reader Brett for catching this one when it snuck by me.)
