Peanuts media notes

Animated Peanuts

I meant to write a review of Snoopy Presents: There’s No Place Like Home, Snoopy, the new special on Apple TV that is so powerful, Snoopy’s in the name twice! But life is full, so I will just note that it’s watchable, and it does have the Goose Eggs in it. Those of you into the smallest humans in the Peanuts cast or who just like seeing the diversity within Peanuts embraced will be glad to get your dose of Milo.

Even if you’re not watching Ted Lasso, if you are a Peanuts completist and have Apple TV you may want to start up the first episode of the new season (season 4); there’s a short ad-piece running before it that integrates footage from other Apple TV shows into things, and I was happy to see a bit of Peanuts in there.

Last week, the Recording Industry Association of America certified the A Charlie Brown Christmas soundtrack album as Platinum… again. It’s six times platinum. That means it has sold 6 million albums (or streaming digital equivalents). It’s the best-selling jazz album of all time in the US… if you count it as jazz. (I’ve seen at least one best-selling jazz list refuse to include it, saying that it is a Christmas music album and a novelty record. I’m not enough of a jazzhead to argue… but I’ve seen enough people in comics trying to say that certain comics “don’t count” when judging success that such statements give me bad vibes.)

If you wonder why Apple TV is making a new Peanuts feature film

The idea of Apple TV making a new feature-length Peanuts film caught some people off-guard. Sure, they make Peanuts “specials”, but the last time a feature film was made, it became the lowest grossing film that that studio had released, despite also being the best reviewed. Today, I looked at …

A couple pops shy of a fun book; and shalom noel
