Old school Peanuts on the big screen

Animated Peanuts

With the lack of any plans for a follow-up to The Peanuts Movie, you might have assumed that you’d never get a chance to see Peanuts on the big screen again. Do not despair! You will get your chance – chances, even! –later this year. Both A Boy Named Charlie Brown and Snoopy Come Home are heading back to theaters for limited engagements, it has been announced. These won’t be full theatrical releases – if your local theaters regularly have old films showing up for a couple of nights out of the week, you are likely to see these. A Boy Named Charlie Brown will celebrate its 50th anniversary by hitting screens on Sunday August 18, Wednesday August 21, and Saturday August 24. Snoopy Come Home will celebrate, well, A Boy Named Charlie Brown‘s 50th, with showings on Sunday September 29, Thursday October 3, and Saturday October 5.

Of course, you could watch these films right now from DVD or on many streaming services – both are part of the Hulu package at the moment – but there is something to be said for the big screen.
