Ferreting out more A Charlie Brown Christmas adaptations

There are at least a couple more A Charlie Brown Christmas adaptations/editions that aren’t on my big guide yet, and if anyone out there would like to help by sending pictures of them (and publishing/copyright date, if possible), please do:

  • There was an album-sized record released, with a storybook included, and I’m already arranging to get images from that. But some of the little book-and-record sets were rereleased as book-and-cassette versions. If you have that for A Charlie Brown Christmas, I could use a cover image and any hint of the date of release.
  • I’ve seen reference to a 1998 Easton Press edition. I’m not sure this isn’t just someone putting the wrong date on the Easton Press edition of the Making Of… book, but if anyone knows different, I’d like to know!
  • I am getting access to the 1972 tall version from World Publishing, with the white cover. (I think this was part of a set that was sold at supermarkets, although I’m not certain.) If you have any other versions not incuded in the guide, email me at questions@aaugh.com — thanks!

And as long as I have you here: four hour sale on The Complete Far Side fancy-dancy hardcover box set, list price $150, normally through Amazon $94.50, buy it now for $79.50. Click through to it, then click on the View Gold Box offer button to get the deal. Limit one set per customer, and yes, it’s eligible for free shipping.

On Peanuts and Gender

This weekend, I had the pleasure of attending the sold-out Transpose Theatricals production of You’re a Good Man, Charlie Brown in North Hollywood, California. The production featuring an all-trans and non-binary cast was a fun one, the cast brought great talent and a enthusiasm and really filled out their characters …

The real Linus’s real cartooning

Like many Peanuts fans, I knew that the character of Linus was named after Linus Maurer, who worked at Art Instruction alongside Schulz. Like seemingly fewer fans, I knew that Maurer himself had been a syndicated cartoonist… but for some reason I never saw any of his strip before today. …
