Schulz biography versus his family

With the release of Schulz and Peanuts a week-and-a-day away, members of Schulz’s family are taking issue with the psychological portrait it paints. And while I never met Sparky and cannot tell you how accurate their objection to the portrait is, I can confirm that the book does indeed focus more on the difficult times and goes far lighter on the last third of his life, particularly in the view of his personality. From a writing angle, that may be legitimate – conflict is more interesting. But that’s a separate question from building a full-and-accurate portrait… which is why, as I said before, there’s room for other views, other biographies.
