Fall Fantagraphics books

The solicitations have hit for this fall’s Peanuts books from Fantagraphics. There are no unexpected books here, but there are a couple pieces of good news. One is that they’re doing box sets of Peanuts Every Sunday, which means that if you wait, you should be able to save a few bucks (the list price for a boxed set is about 25% less than the list price for the individual volumes). It also means that you’re going to need just that much bigger a bookshelf to put them on, to include the extra height of the box. The other bit of news is that Paul Feig is writing the intro for this fall’s Complete Peanuts volume, which is a choice that makes me happy. While these days he’s better known for the films he directs (BridesmaidsThe Heat, the upcoming Ghostbusters) than his prose, what I’ve read of the latter is quite worth checking out… and he is a producer of the upcoming The Peanuts Movie.

Schulz is from Tidal Wave, …

Not Peanuts, but not utterly not Peanuts

I saw a comics writer talking about a new project where he was taking some inspiration from Peanuts – as well as some from other sources — to do a story about a comic strip creator who is bringing his strip to an end, in a way with deep personal …
