Many Sweet Dreams for Snoopy

Sweet Dreams, Snoopy - hamburger style

The local Wendy’ses are being slow to clear out their recent Kid’s Meal toy line focused on Pac-Man and friends –. well, not so much friends, as occasionally edible enemies — and not so fast to move on to the next batch, toys built around the hit TV show Wheel of Fortune (because after all, kids love the Wheel!) Because of that, I have not yet been able to lay hands on a copy of the fourth in their series of Kid’s Meal Peanuts board books for the under-3 crowed, Sweet Dreams, Snoopy.

But worry not, dear AAUGH Blog reader, because while I’m waiting for that fine tome to reach me, I am free to spend my time reading something else… such as the board book Sweet Dreams, Snoopy.

Sweet Dreams, Snoopy - hamburger-free version

That’s right. Just a few years ago, Little Simon came out with Snoopy’s Doghouse Library, a set of three board books in a nice box shaped like Snoopy’s doghouse, with Snoopy on top. One of these books was Sweet Dreams, Snoopy, a bit smaller and with the same page count as the Kid’s Meal books.

Of course, neither of these are to be confused with Sweet Dreams, which was one of those books that comes as a fabric panel that you have to sew together yourself. And that Snoopy-focused book isn’t to be confused with Sweet Dreams, Charlie Brown, which was a Fawcett mass market paperback collecting strips from the early 1980s.

Well, I’m off for my bike ride. Sweet dreams, everyone… and if you thin of any great new titles for Peanuts books, don’t tell me, tell the publishers. They could obviously use some!

An unauthorized? biography

In the past, I’ve talked about the Charles Schulz biographies that are produced as part of bulk lines of biographies for school libraries, very brief, photo-heavy things meant to give kids something to write book reports about. Well ABDO, a company that has produced just such a biography in the …
