The thing that makes Nat happy: a new Charlie Brown Christmas edition

Mr. Postman kindly brought me my latest Amazon package today, the one with The Peanuts Holiday Box Set, a boxed set of four minibook adaptations of Peanuts specials, published by Running Press. Now, my hopes weren’t really high that I’d score an actual new edition of A Charlie Brown Christmas; after all, I already have three different editions of their A Charlie Brown Christmas minibook – one hardcover with a dangly tree ornament bookmark, one hardcover without a dangly tree, and a softcover edition which came as part o the A Charlie Brown Christmas: A Book-and-Tree Kit box. Surely the book in this new boxed set would be identical to that prior softcover.

But no! Oh, its still the same adaptation, but it has bigger dimensions! It’s about a quarter inch wider and an eight of an inch taller. The art isn’t enlarged, but it extends further. A different image is chosen for the back cover. So it is a different edition! And for those of you who know this ol’ AAUGH Blogger, you know that while the comforts of home, family, and pizza bring much happiness, it is only in new book editions of A Charlie Brown Christmas that joy is truly felt.

viva la difference

This new edition has, of course, been added to The AAUGH.com Evergreen, Evergrowing Guide to A Charlie Brown Christmas Books – if you’ve never checked this feature out, do! (And I’ll be adding another new adaptation sometime next month.)

A pop-up shows up

Here Comes Charlie Brown!: A Peanuts Pop-up, Gene Kannenberg, Jr.’s adaptation of the very first Peanuts strip, is not the first Peanuts book to reprint only a single strip. There was at least one board book that did much the same thing. However, that board book was, at heart, a …
