Finding the bargains

So here I am, on the same block as a Best Buy, a block away from a Target, two blocks from an Office Depot. Seems like I’m ideally situated to exploit all the day-after-Thanksgiving earlybird sales this year, right?

Well, no. Not only is there nothing I’m really looking for – my TV setup works fine, I don’t see the need for HD or Blu-Ray. I’ve got the portable MP3 thing working fine. My computer isn’t about to give up the ghost. There’s really not much I need. But more significantly, I’m on the other side of the country from where I live. Shipping anything sizable back to California would raise the effort and kill the savings, particularly given the charge for all luggage on the airline I’m flying. I may still get in the lines for the heck of it and to get a few DVDs, but I may just sleep in (particularly since if the doors open at 5 AM, that’s 2 AM my mental time. And I’m stuffed with turkey and turked with stuffing, so I’m apt to sleep late.) So if I’m looking for bargains tomorrow (probably today by the time you’re reading it), online may be the best way.

Now, there are the Amazon Black Friday deals, a new one every hour. May be great. Odds are, there won’t be Peanuts stuff there, though. So, what Peanuts bargains can I point you to?

Amazon does have some good deals, some usual good deals and some a-little-better-than-usual deals on Peanutsy stuff. Let’s see, there’s:

But what about elsewhere? Bookcloseouts has a few cheap Peanuts books (may have remainder markings on the edges):

Plus, if you order at least $35 worth of stuff, you can get free shipping:

  • Coupon Number: freeshipping
  • Coupon Password: bookcloseouts.com

And while you’re there, click on their fiction category, and you’ll find that they’ve cut their usual cheap remaindered fiction prices in half for today… and the next few days. Lots of savings, free shipping.

Ach, and with that, I see from the clock on my wrist that Thanksgiving Day has ended and the sales day has begun. So I best get some sleep. May you all be blessed with the true gifts of the season: happiness, joy, and those little Butterfinger bells full of chocolaty, peanut buttery goodness.

Another discount book

Hot on the heels of finding a discount printing of a Peanuts strip collection at Five Below, I discover another volume there. A-Maze-ing Peanuts  was  among  their five-dollar books, and it’s original version (which has a different cover) is a $12.99 list price book. I’ve no idea if this is …

Fantagraphics sale

Sorry to find this too late… this is a deal that ends Sunday at 11:59 PM Pacific, and I found out about it with less than 13 hours left to go. If you’re getting this  by email, it’s likely too late. Anyway, for each whole $50 you spend on a …

Big World, Big Savings

I stopped by Five Below the other day. It’s a youth-targeted store chain where most of the items are $5. I was surprised to find a big pile of It’s a Big World, Charlie Brown on their books table. It’s a full-color collection of strips from 1997 (about when the Rerun …
