REVIEW: PEANUTS ON… BOOKS

I now have my copies of the long-delayed books MY SWEET BABBOO:
PEANUTS ON LOVE and OH FRIEND OF FRIENDS: PEANUTS ON FRIENDSHIP.
These are cute little gift books, each about three inches
wide and three-and-a-half high. On the 48 full-color pages
(not 64, as listed in the catalogs) are strips reprinted one
or two panels per page, with pages of quotes from famous folks
seperating the strips.

Obviously, you won’t be buying these books for the quantity
of strips. A $6 book with 9 strips is no bargain. The
package is nicely presented however. One especially nice
touch is the built-in bookmark, a long strap loop with
a metal weight at the end. On the friendship book, the
weight is a little painted metal Snoopy, while the love
book has a medallion with Linus’s face on it. In addition
to serving as bookmarks, these loops could be used to
hang the books from a Christmas tree. You’ll have to
remove the book’s dust jacket, because the jacket will
just fall of otherwise, but under the jacket the boards
have the same full color image.

These books make cute little gift items, and could be
interesting decorations for the office cubicle.

More news in… oh, I’m guessing about a week, but
I could be wrong. News happens when it happens, and if
I could tell you what next week’s news would be, I’d
put it in this issue!

The real Linus’s real cartooning

Like many Peanuts fans, I knew that the character of Linus was named after Linus Maurer, who worked at Art Instruction alongside Schulz. Like seemingly fewer fans, I knew that Maurer himself had been a syndicated cartoonist… but for some reason I never saw any of his strip before today. …

Campaign Peanuts redux

I don’t normally just repost my blog entries… but this one seems as relevant now as when I first posted it in 2019. Only the word “many” seems dated. Of the many presidential candidates, I think Schulz only mentioned one in Peanuts. which isn’t to say that you can’t find …

I suspect that’s not Schulz

The only thing I have to say about this ad from 1967 is “no”.   40 SHARES Share Tweet this thing Follow the AAUGH Blog
