A one-hour book

I finally picked up my copy of Peanuts 5-Minute Stories, an anthology of a dozen previously-published stories for children. Some of them are culled from the square storybooks that Simon Spotlight has been issuing, others from board books. All of them had to be re laid out to some degree to fit this larger, vertical book, but it’s generally simple stuff like putting a double-page spread image on one page, or taking two pages worth of board book storytelling and placing them on the page. It’s never anything jarring.

It’s got a list price of $12.99, which is cheap for a full-color 192-page hardcover book with puffy covers (I’m sure there’s a publishing industry term for “puffy covers”, and it’s probably not “puffy covers”, but I don’t know it. Even though I am in the publishing industry. I am a failure.) If you want to deliver a large block of Peanuts stories, this is the efficient way to do so.

  1. Snoopy Takes Off!
  2. Go Fly a Kite, Charlie Brown!
  3. Lose the Blanket, Linus!
  4. It’s Hockey Time, Franklin!
  5. Cool Like Snoopy
  6. Messy Like Pigpen
  7. Sweet Like Sally
  8. Snoopy for President!
  9. Kick the Football, Charlie Brown!
  10. A Best Friend for Snoopy
  11. A Best Friend for Woodstock
  12. Snoopy and Woodstock’s Great Adventure

The indica page does let you know that these are previously-published stories “with slightly different text and art”, and if I were a good li’l AAUGH Blogger I’d set to spending the day trying to detect all of those differences… but there’s an article to finish, late artists to chase after on a project, podcasts to plan, Kindle editions to generate, a trip to Vegas for me and a trip to DC for a teen that need organizing, and food that needs eating. Priorities, how I hate ’em!

The World According to Snoopy and sundry other things

I just picked up a copy of The World According to Snoopy, which was released in the UK late last year. This hardcover book, with its cover akin to a 1970s textbook, falls into the “inspirational messages” category. It’s pages are a mix of single-page displays of individual Peanuts strips (always …

Peanuts books all a-board!

The mail brought two new Peanuts board books this week, and the web offered up images of another, so I guess that’s the theme for the day. Cheering You On, Charlie Brown looks first at how Charlie Brown has a lot of difficulty in life, but then at how he …

Shiny edges

So I got the new board book edition of It’s the Easter Beagle, Charlie Brown. And, well, it is what it is, a board book edition of a previously-published adaptation. I’m not sure full episode adaptations are absolutely ripe for board books, simply because they’re too long, too much text, for …
