Updates on release dates for Snoopy Treasures and Peanuts Movie 2: Franklin’ Trainin’

  • Three minutes ago, Amazon was listing my new book The Snoopy Treasures as going to be in stock on November 21. I reloaded the page now, and it’s now November 16. In either case, it will be available in plenty of time to be given as a Thanksgiving gift, if you want to place it under the Thanksgiving tree, to put it in someone’s Thanksgiving stocking, or to stuff your turkey with it.
  • When I made comments about how the box office results for The Peanuts Movie would impact the making of a sequel, I was making one bad assumption (one which was shared by much of the Hollywood press, it seems.) I’m seeing multiple sites reporting on comments from Jean Schulz that Fox doesn’t have the right to make a sequel, they only bought the right to make one film, and the family isn’t eager to throw themselves into another movie just yet. That’s not a complaint about the results, its just that a lot of energy and effort went into the film and related licensing. That doesn’t rule out something eventually, but this is not one of those films where they have the next installment’s script all ready to produce, should the first one be a hit. (The film has continued to do well during the week; with many kids off of school for Veteran’s Day in the US, the film did over $7.7 million on Wednesday, although even then it was still the number 2 film, to Spectre‘s $007.9 million.)
