More Peanuts in Space

In The Peanuts Collection, I discussed various ways in which the Peanuts characters have been in space, such as the Snoopy and Charlie Brown modules, and the packets of Silver Snoopy pins that have been sent on each mission. But there’s one way which I missed.

On today’s broadcast of NPR’s All Things Considered, they had a story about some of the physical effects of space travel. They discussed such things as how you lose your sense of smell, although they’re not really sure why. And they talk about how without gravity, your bodily fluids tend to end up higher in the body than we’re used to – it tends to swell the face, and make it rounder.

They call that effect “Charlie Brown face”.
