The War on Snoopy

Schulz/Peanuts news

I subscribe to the print edition of The Onion, which is America’s Finest (made-up) News Source. This is actually a paper with a long history, but switched to web only for a while. When they came back to print, I jumped on board to help fund this very special outlet that is doing the good work. But I was not prepared to get the new issue in the mail and see that as their front-and-center story, they were covering US President Donald J Trump and his ongong attacks on Snoopy.

The story will likely wind up on their website later this month, but I will note that it mentions that “Trump frehas frequently seemed to confuse the Peanuts star with unrelated figures such as Marmaduke, Dogbert, and Syrian President Bashar al-Assad.” Of particular interest to AAUGH Blog readers may be the claim that Trump says that Snoopy wants ‘trans for Woodstock’, considering that Schulz has said of Woodstock that “originally he was not a male.”

The website version of The Onion can be found at Onion.com, and those of you looking for something special in your mailbox can subscribe here.

I’m at a convention this week. Went to an award ceremony today, and something Peanuts got an award. Now, I’m used to seeing that happen when I go to comic convention award ceremonies… but this wasn’t a comics convention. It’s a museum store convention, for folks who run the gift …
