The 75th Anniversary

I sat down to write a nice, long something on the 75th anniversary of Peanuts, because it’s a 75th anniversary, because this is the official marking of Peanuts being a cultural presence after the end of the strip for half as long as the strip was being made, and because I thought it would be expected of me.

But no. You should not spend your time today reading something long from me. Go enjoy Peanuts in your favorite form. I’ll be reading some 1960s strips. If you prefer the animated Peanuts, watch it. Hold your stuffed Snoopy tight. Experience what makes Peanuts special for you.

I’m sure I’ll be back with plenty of things to say about Peanuts in the days to come.
