Well, there’s a promotional video out now out Snoopy Presents: A Summer Musical… but I can’t right off find any source that will let me embed it here. But I did manage to grab some screenshots.
The plot is apparently that Sally is going to summer camp for the first time, the same camp Charlie Brown and other characters have been going to for years. She seems not to happy about going. When the gang learns that the summer camp is going to be closed, they gather to try to find some way to save it, because they want kids to continue to have the experiences that they did.
And dang, that hits me hard at the moment. Y’see, the campus where I went to college, a lovely secluded place in the Berkshire Mountains, just closed down. A lot of us had special experiences there, and while the college will still technically exist in some form, the many youth to come will not have the same experience that we got. So I recognize the pain here.
But on to the real question for this particular blog: Is that actually Dolores in the show, and does she have a significant part.
Well, first I should point out that there are a lot of extra characters in some scenes in the show.
(And hey, if you look closely, you’ll see that the characters aren’t all unique.)
But probably-Dolores is more than just one of the huge crowd. She appears to be one of three campers sharing a cabin with Sally, showing up as part of that group twice in the trailer.
Eudora is also there, as you can see, but Eudora has a credited voice actor on the cast list that has gone around. We know she speaks. Is-that-Dolores has no such credit. So I’m still holding out to see if she is given lines, or even just given a name. I’ve got my hopes up, but this wouldn’t be the first time that life has pulled the football away from me.
