Upcomingy stuff, again

Upcoming releases

I wrote basically this post weeks ago, and then a strange crash destroyed it before it got sent. When something like that happens, I find it hard to get the emotional energy needed to do the same work again. So, i’m sorry for the delay. But this is the sort of basic “Peanuts books coming!” post that is the firmament of this blog. It needs be done.

Coming in October is Snoopy: Touchdown!, the 16th of the full color AMP Comics For Kids/Peanuts Kids color collections. With about 40 weeks worth of strips in each book, that’s a substantial portion of the run that’s been reprinted in these.

Coming in November is volume 20 of Complete Peanuts in paperback, as well as the box set of 19 and 20.

And coming in August is the 2024 Peanuts Family Planner, for those who use Peanuts for their family planning. (I should note that this is a “Dayspring” product, which is the specifically Christiany Peanuts licensee.)

Ooh, and this wasn’t in the original post: landing in October is Charlie Brown’s Christmas Miracle: The Inspiring, Untold Story of the Making of a Holiday Classic. It’s written by Professor Michael Keane, about whom I know little… but the thing that catches my eye is that it’s published by Center Street, which despite its name is far from center, but specifically right-wing. Their website’s meta tags announce “Center Street is the publisher for Donald Trump, Jr., Gary Byrne, Newt Gingrich, Kris Paronto, Jeanine Pirro and more”, and their front page ads Ben Carson and Betsy DeVos to that list. The titles they’re pushing include Parents of the World, Unite!
How to Save Our Schools from the Left’s Radical Agenda and School of Woke. As such, I’m expecting this book to have more than a little spin. (I should also note that this book does not look to be licensed. The lack of any Peanuts characters on the cover and the lack of trademark invocation point to an unlicensed product…. which is not inherently illegitimate for a thing like this)

Next June it’s coming back, this time in hardcover and available through the usual sources. Designed as a Father’s Day gift, it should be good for anyone who likes Peanuts …

An unauthorized? biography

In the past, I’ve talked about the Charles Schulz biographies that are produced as part of bulk lines of biographies for school libraries, very brief, photo-heavy things meant to give kids something to write book reports about. Well ABDO, a company that has produced just such a biography in the …

The Peanuts books keep a-comin’

We’re getting into the period when “75th Anniversary” books should be being announced. I don’t know if either of these will be branded that way. Coming in May, 2025 is Happiness is Peanuts, which seems to be an attempt to capture the magic of the Happiness is a Warm Puppy-style …
