Fire update

People have been asking me to keep them updated on the fire in Santa Rosa. I can’t promise to keep this up constantly, but here’s the map at the moment.

The fires have definitely been heading toward the museum and surrounding buildings, and are at this point about 4 miles away. Someone took me to task for not noting that the museum collection itself has a lot of strong fire protection on it, which is true… however, there is far more at stake than just the museum collection. There’s the grounds, there’s the ice rink across the street, the gift shop.

Strong effort is being put into fighting the fires. We are certainly far from needing to assume the worst. Let us hope the winds stay as low as possible.
