No Oscar nominations for The Peanuts Movie

I thought The Peanuts Movie had a good chance at an Oscar nomination, but most of the big-time animated movies of the year didn’t make it into the Animated Movies category – sure, Inside Out made it on there (it could hardly not), but none of the other big US studio releases did (no Good DinosaurMinionsHotel Transylvania 2The Spongebob Movie). The next biggest film on the list, in terms of US box office, was Shaun the Sheep. After that, you’re down to arthouse flicks. There are other categories it could’ve gotten nominated for things , but it looks like the only category outside of the animation ghetto where any animated film got nominated was a screenplay nod for Inside Out.

In other words: Fifty Shades of Grey got one more Oscar nomination than The Peanuts Movie, so it’s objectively a better film.
