Peanuts stamp a-comin’

According to supposed-to-be-secret documents grabbed up by the Washington Post, the US Postal Service has a Peanuts stamp in development for 2015. That year has, I feel, a little extra clue to the likely content. Yes, it’s the year that the movie comes out (and the post office has seemed happy in recent years to do things in conjunction with a major release), but perhaps more important for this effort: it’s the 50th anniversary of A Charlie Brown Christmas.

The good news about current first-class envelope stamps is that they are “forever” stamps, that you can buy them now and still use them to mail an envelope years from now. Those of you who bought a lot of the 34 cent Snoopy stamp in 2001 may recall what a pain it was when the price of first class postage went up to 37 cents the next year. Then again, if it is a Christmas stamp, you may feel foolish using it in July.

By the way, those of you who want a sheet of the old Snoopy stamp should know that one can get a better deal than this Amazon listing which describes them as “George Schulz at his best”. Good ol’ George!
