Peanuts eBargain

The Complete Peanuts volumes are showing up as part of Amazon MatchBook program. What that means is that if you buy (or at any time have bought), say, The Complete Peanuts volume 1 from Amazon, they will now sell you a digital copy (for your Kindle device or Kindle reader software) for a mere $2.99 (instead of the usual digital price of $14.99.)

Now, this is supposed to be a way for you to add an easily-portable version of books you already own… but it can work out other ways as well. If you order a hardcover copy of Kurt Vonnegut’s Slaughterhouse Five, for example, as a gift for a friend, you can then get a copy onto your Kindle for $2.99. A gift and a bargain!

However, there is one wrinkle in this when it comes to The Complete Peanuts: many of you have been ordering the box sets, both for the nice box and for the additional savings  they represent. However, Amazon is not (at this point) recognizing a purchase of a boxed set as being a purchase of the volumes within, so the set won’t qualify you for the cheaper download. Will this change? We shall see.

Thanks to AAUGH Blog reader Jeff for the heads-up on this.
