New Peanuts video and books – It’s Tokyo, Charlie Brown

Animated Peanuts

MAJOR CORRECTION: (APRIL 12, 2012) THE POST BELOW WAS IN ERROR. IT’S TOKYO WILL BE AN ORIGINAL GRAPHIC NOVEL; IT IS NOT IN PRODUCTION AS AN ANIMATED VIDEO. See here for details.

Coming this November is a new Peanuts animated special, direct-to-video… and the book adaptation to go with it!

It’s Tokyo, Charlie Brown! is described thusly:  The Peanuts gang hops on a plane to Japan when their Little League team is chosen to represent the United States in an international baseball game in Tokyo! Between seeing the sights and taking in the best of Japanese culture, Snoopy, Charlie Brown, Peppermint Patty and the rest of everyone’s favorite characters still manage to be their incorrigible selves. (To which the Peanuts purist responds: if it’s Charlie Brown’s team that’s going, what’s Peppermint Patty doing there?)

You can currently preorder the paperback book adaptation, done by Vicki Scott and Paige Braddock. Not yet available is the video itself, nor the limited-edition hardcover version of the adaptation.

And let me say a quick HELLO! to all the Japanese Peanuts fans who are suddenly visiting this blog. Please remember to add it to your RSS feeds; while a lot of what’s talked about here are specifically US Peanuts books, we cover a lot of odd, interesting, and often funny aspects of Peanuts and what is done with it.
