More Peanuts on TV

If your need for Peanuts on network TV hasn’t been sated by the 5.5 hours of airtime Charlie Brown and crew have commanded this past month, you’re in luck! This Thursday at 9 PM in most markets, ABC will air I Want a Dog for Christmas, Charlie Brown, a full hour of Rerun-laden goodness!

Actually, I should amend that 5.5 hour count by a few minutes; in recent years, ABC has cut a chunk out of Charlie Brown’s Christmas Tales, so that they could air a Prep & Landing short. If you’d rather watch the full version of Christmas Tales, it’s available on DVD. (You can also get it for streaming video, but that both costs more and doesn’t include the second special from the disk, Is This Goodbye, Charlie Brown?)

(But hey, if you’re looking for a DVD of Peanuts for someone who thinks they’ve seen it all, how about the collection of Peanuts motion comics? Not only has this material never been on TV, I’m pretty sure that this disk has not been made available in stores… it’s a print-on-demand item, you order one, they make it.)

RIP Willie Mays

Willie Mays has died. The baseball great lived until the age of 1993. “Why is that relevant to a Peanuts blog?” I hear of a few of you cry (though many of you know better.) Before Lee Mendelson had any connection to Peanuts, he made a documentary about Mays… and …
