Free Peanuts comic book coming next year

One of my favorite holidays each year is Free Comic Book Day, a day on which comic book shops throughout the English-speaking world give out free special-edition comic books. Free comic books – which of those words is not to like? Well, this year Boom Studios will be offering a Peanuts comic book… actually, a double-sided comic with Peanuts on one side and comics based on the Cartoon Network series Adventure Time on the other. The cover on the Peanuts side is basically the same cover as the issue 0 of Peanuts that came out recently. I doubt it will have any new material; as Free Comic Book Day is now affixed to the first Sunday in May, this should be coming out after the fourth issue of their Peanuts comic book, in time to promote the book collection.

(Regular readers will recall that this is not the first Peanuts comic book on Free Comic Book Day, as Fantagraphics released Unseen Peanuts a few years back to promote The Complete Peanuts. Unlike that one, the new book has been accepted as a “gold level” book, which means that you can expect almost every store participating in Free Comic Book Day to get at least some copies.)
