Look what I Looked and Found

It’s the It’s The Great Pumpkin, Charlie Brown Look and Find book!
This one has been released through the bargain book system rather than through regular book distribution methods. Amazon doesn’t generally carry such books directly, although sometimes they have them listed for third-party sales. BN.com, linked to above, carries it directly (although you will find that they got the title a little wrong.)
Between this, the new Hallmark sound button edition, and the still-upcoming-and-in-fact-delayed mini-edition that comes with a “leaf globe”, this year may have more book releases of Great Pumpkin than of A Charlie Brown Christmas. What is this world coming to?
But wait… if they’re doing a Look And Find book of It’s the Great Pumpkin, surely, they’re doing one of A Charlie Brown Christmas, right. (Sounds of research taking place.) Well, ummm, they’re doing one currently listed in catalogs simply as Charlie Brown Christmas, so yes, right? But then if you look at the cover below, it doesn’t say A Charlie Brown Christmas, it says Merry Christmas Charlie Brown so no, its not an adaptation! But then you look at the cover carefully, and hey, there’s the pathetic tree, right in the center! And there’s the tree-shopping scene in the lower right! So it definitely takes elements from the TV special. But as a “Look and Find” book, it’s going to be more interested in showing complex images; will it even attempt to tell any story? I’m obviously going to have to buy this one when it comes out next month and investigate carefully to see if it falls into the category of my deepest obsession, adaptations of that TV classic.
(Thinking about it all a bit more: Isn’t a Great Pumpkin look-and-find going to be ultimately disappointing? I mean, you’ll spend all that time looking for the Great Pumpkin, and all you end up finding is a used beagle.)
