Schulz<\/strong><\/a>, the upcoming Peanuts retrospective written by my bud Mark Evanier. I&#8217;ll let you head there for the content, but I am going to talk on one part of the preview pointed to me by AAUGH Blog reader Mark:<\/p>\n<p><a href=\"http:\/\/aaugh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodstockFliesInPeopleMagazine.jpg\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" class=\"aligncenter size-large wp-image-7593\" src=\"http:\/\/aaugh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodstockFliesInPeopleMagazine-1024x894.jpg\" alt=\"\" width=\"960\" height=\"838\" srcset=\"https:\/\/aaugh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodstockFliesInPeopleMagazine-1024x894.jpg 1024w, https:\/\/aaugh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodstockFliesInPeopleMagazine-300x262.jpg 300w, https:\/\/aaugh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodstockFliesInPeopleMagazine-768x670.jpg 768w, https:\/\/aaugh.com\/wordpress\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/08\/WoodstockFliesInPeopleMagazine.jpg 1368w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 960px) 100vw, 960px\" \/><\/a><\/p>\n<p>Mark (not Evanier) pointed out that this is making the claim that Woodstock first appeared in 1951. And yes, it looks like\u00a0<em>People<\/em> is making that claim, with their header &#8220;Woodstock Flies In&#8221; and their caption of &#8220;A spread in which Woodstock appears.&#8221; However, let&#8217;s be clear, it&#8217;s only people that&#8217;s making that claim; the text makes it quite clear that the bird seen is not Woodstock. Evanier generally knows what he&#8217;s talking about;\u00a0<em>People<\/em>, on the other hand&#8230; (to be fair, it&#8217;s outside their expertise. This isn&#8217;t <em>Birds<\/em>.) So this is not a real new argument in the &#8220;when did Woodstock first appear&#8221; debate (which is now, to be fair, largely settled.)<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>The magazine People ran a preview of The Essential Peanuts by Charles M.
