{"id":4393,"date":"2016-10-20T12:53:44","date_gmt":"2016-10-20T19:53:44","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/aaugh.com\/wordpress\/?p=4393"},"modified":"2016-10-20T12:53:44","modified_gmt":"2016-10-20T19:53:44","slug":"peanuts-out-of-the-insurance-business","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/aaugh.com\/wordpress\/2016\/10\/peanuts-out-of-the-insurance-business\/","title":{"rendered":"Peanuts out of the insurance business"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Several people have contacted me to make sure I know about the announcement that\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/www.usatoday.com\/story\/money\/2016\/10\/20\/metlife-fires-snoopy\/92452986\/\">MetLife is dropping their Peanuts license<\/a><em>.<\/em> There were signs that this was coming, and if it&#8217;s news it&#8217;s only because that license has lasted a ridiculously long time as licenses go. It produced some interesting commercials, and it also produced some odd things, like the political use seen below. While I feel for anyone impacted by the loss of income (after three decades of what I can only assume were substantial payments), this may also free Peanuts up for something else big. Or for nothing&#8230; I would have no problem with Peanuts being more about a great work and less about selling product.
