Schulz&#8217;s iconic <em>Peanuts<\/em> gang celebrates not only their 65th anniversary but also two years of the current volume of the <em>Peanuts<\/em> comic book at BOOM! Studios&#8217; all-ages imprint, KaBOOM! Come celebrate Charlie Brown, Snoopy, and the gang&#8217;s birthday with moderator <strong>Douglas Wolk<\/strong> (<em>Reading Comics<\/em>) and <em>Peanuts\u00a0<\/em>contributors <strong>Terry Moore<\/strong> (<em>Strangers in Paradise<\/em>), and <strong>Art Baltazar<\/strong> (<em>Tiny Titans<\/em>), <strong>Colleen Coover <\/strong>(Eisner-nominated\u00a0<em>Bandette I),<\/em> along with <strong>Lex Fajardo<\/strong>, managing editor for Charles M. Schulz<\/a><\/strong>, where various artists provide their own interpretation of Peanuts, given the listing of three comics creators (very talented, all of &#8217;em!) who have no other links to Peanuts that I know of, although the presence of the amiable and newly-married Lex and the helpful and name-misspelled Cesar Gallegos should provide some balance to that.\u00a0This is in one of the bigger rooms. Painful for me, because while I will be at the convention that day, it&#8217;s schedule at the same time as a Spotlight panel on Maggie Thompson, whom I consider a pal (but then again, so do a large portion of the people in comics.)<\/em><\/div>\n<div class=\"sched-event-details-timeandplace\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sched-event-details-timeandplace\"><span class=\"event ev_1  ev_1_sub_26 ev_1_sub_33\"><a id=\"ec1b2dca4175a7d38f415765c685fc34\" class=\"name\" href=\"http:\/\/comiccon2015.sched.org\/event\/ec1b2dca4175a7d38f415765c685fc34?iframe=yes&amp;w=i:680;&amp;sidebar=no&amp;bg=no\">Comics Arts Conference #7: Cracking Peanuts<\/a><\/span><\/p>\n<div class=\"sched-event-details-container\">\n<div class=\"sched-event-details\">\n<div class=\"sched-scrollable-details\">\n<div class=\"tip-description\"><strong>Stephen J. Lind<\/strong> (Washington and Lee University) provides insights into the enthymematic nature of comic strip argumentation by examining how Charles Schulz was able to incorporate provocative ideas into his mainstream<em>Peanuts<\/em> comic strip. <strong>John Auxier<\/strong> (Trinity Western University) applies research on distressed couple communication patterns to examine the relational content of <em>Peanuts<\/em> strips during the late 1960s-early 1970s, a time of marital discord for Charles Schulz.<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<hr \/>\n<div class=\"sched-event-details-timeandplace\">Friday July 10, 2015 1:00pm &#8211; 2:00pm<br \/>\n<a href=\"http:\/\/comiccon2015.sched.org\/venue\/Room+26AB?iframe=yes&amp;w=i:680;&amp;sidebar=no&amp;bg=no\">Room 26AB<\/a><\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<\/div>\n<div class=\"sched-event-details-timeandplace\"><\/div>\n<div class=\"sched-event-details-timeandplace\"><em>Nat&#8217;s notes: If I could go to just one panel, it would be this one&#8230; but I&#8217;m not slated to be at the con that day. Lind is the author of that upcoming\u00a0<a href=\"http:\/\/aaugh.com\/to.htm?1496804686\"><strong>A Charlie Brown Religion<\/strong>,<\/a> which as I&#8217;ve noted is the book I&#8217;m most looking forward to these days, among the books that I was not involved in.
