October 2nd will be the 6oth anniversary of the first appearance of Peanuts in the funnypages. So, what’ll ye olde AAUGH Blogger be doing to celebrate the date? Will I be doing an all-day Peanuts blogathon? Or reading through stacks of The Complete Peanuts<\/em>? Nope.<\/p>\n

I’ll be creating my own comics. You see, Saturday, October 2nd is also the 7th annual 24 Hour Comics Day. It’s a day when comic creators around the globe gather in locations to sit side-by-side, each trying to create a 24 page comics story – normally months of work – in 24 straight hours. It’s a crazed, caffeine-fueled creative marathon. I actually founded the event back in 2004, thinking it would be a minor thing… and now, each year more than 1000 comics creators take part, in around 100 official locations on 6 continents, and countless other creators working in private. Not everybody completes the 24 page challenge, but still, we’re talking about well more than 10,000 pages of art created as part of this event.<\/p>\n

Me, I’ll be taking part at The Comics Bug in Manhattan Beach, California.
