The Peanuts-y Rabbi

 

Those of you who were entertained or moved by the Abraham J. Twerski self-help books that use Peanuts strips to illustrate points, such as When Do the Good Things Start? and Brothers and Sisters, It’s All Relative may be interested in this Tablet magazine article  “How a Prolific Rabbi Found Inspiration in Hasidic Teaching—and in Charlie Brown“. The folks I know who have personally encountered Twerski, whether in Peanuts circles or Jewish circles, have been universally impressed by this guy.

(I also think I’ll keep some of this information in my back pocket, so that the next time someone thinks that they can pinpoint Schulz’s religious beliefs based on what he is supposed to have read on his deathbed, I can respond with “well, I’m not sure if that’s true, but I do know what rabbi he had over a couple days before he passed!”)
