The title of Christmas is Together-Time may be a mite awkward, but what it is isn’t awkward at all. What it is is pure, book-original Schulz, with his reflections on Christmas and what it is. And lest you think that a Christmas giftbook is apt to be pure saccharine, we should note that Schulz covers the good and the bad; yes, “Christmas is ta box of tree ornaments that have become part of the family”, but then “Christmas is when you realize how little you can buy with fifty cents.”
This book was a Christmas Charlie Brown item before “A Charlie Brown Christmas”, part of the line of books that started with Happiness is a Warm Puppy. It was returned to print a few years back in its original format, but the edition I’m highlighting is the new large edition, as it works fine in this bigger size, and becomes more something you can leave on the coffee table for flipping through. And that’s why this lands the penultimate slot on this countdown!
